My own Indian dish

For those of you who don't know me- no, I'm not Indian. Look at my profile pic. I'm so white that I can dazzle you even in the dark…and even though I love spicy, sweet and sour food. My favorite one is Sweet and sour Chinese chicken with the pink sauce. I tried to do it once at home. Horrible. Won't do it ever again… I prefer to go to a good Chinese restaurant and order it (my favorite Chinese restaurant in Rehovot is on Yaacov st., if you're from Rehovot- you've probably been there). But that's not the topic for today :-)

Today I want to tell you, and even show you, my recipe for a dish I made on my own. I woke up on Friday morning, about two years ago, with a craving to chicken with cooking cream and curry. I have no idea what made me want it and I don't remember I ever ate it or saw how Aharoni's making it… it's a very simple recipe and instead of the cooking cream and curry you can add Soya and sesame oil- and you'll have a Chinese dish.


The recipe is enough for 4-5 people


What do you need?
A wok
Canola or sunflower oil
2 chicken breasts
2 peppers- I prefer in different colors
Box of Champignon mushrooms (around 15 middle size)
2 carrots
2 zucchini
Half an onion
4 garlic cloves
1 cooking cream (for Kosher version, you can substitute it with a vegetarian cream or maybe coconut milk- though I never tried it, so I'm not responsible for the result…)

Cut all into dices

The vegetables
Onion and garlic

Remove the chicken into a separate plate

Fry the chicken cubes until they are white




Fry the onion and the garlic for about two minutes

Add the carrots and fry two minutes while stirring, until the carrots will be slightly soft

Add the "soft" vegetables (mushrooms, zucchini and peppers)

Fry until the vegetables are soft (about two minutes)
 Add the chicken back to the wok

Add the cookingcream and a teaspoon of red curry (you can also add a teaspoon of salt and cinnamon) 


Mix everything and let the dish simmer on the stove for a few minutes

For the side dish I usually make simple white rice
